M130 with YAMAHA MT-07 Won't Start

Postby Leo Huang on Tue Oct 09, 2018 5:54 pm

Hi,

I'm using a M130 on MT-07(FZ-07) engine, With OEM injector and coil, MSD ignition module(PN6302).

When I'm cranking the engine, It's seem to have ignition but injector doesn't works.
If I test injector before cranking, the engine speed will raise a few time(with some boom) but it won't start up.

I have already set Engine Speed Reference Offset to my measurement value.
And ECU tell me Fuel Pump Pin Diagnostic, Cylinder 1 primary pin diagnostic, Cylinder 2 primary pin diagnostic is Not in used, Engine Speed Warning is Limit.

The Logging file is provided, Is there anything I should correct ?

Looking at your config, something that stood out to me is that the parameter Fuel Injector Primary Off Time is extremely high - 10500us - e.g. 0.1s. On a package I have that I'm comparing it to, this value is 7us. Where did you get your injector data?

I also notice you're using the manifold pressure estimate method of tuning using TPS. I'm not sure if Motec have an official suggestion for how this should be done, but I have found the best way to do it is to use a direct 1:1 correlation between TPS % and pressure estimate in kPa, so 0% throttle = 0kPa, 50% throttle = 50kPa, 100% throttle = 100kPa. There are several other parameters you need to set correctly too to make this work which I can go into in more detail if someone from Motec doesn't have a better response first. As well as this, however, I also see that Throttle Position never changes from 0%, which possibly means there is problem with your TPS (or your throttle is fully closed and no air is entering the engine at all).

And finally, another thing that looks very wrong is the fuel volume - yours is around 3.7ul when cranking and on a similar sized 2 cylinder engine, I've got values around 60ul. I suspect this is due to the two previous issues.

Hi Leo,

Malcolm has made some good suggestions into the direction that you should look for resolving the issues that you have. I would start with resolving these issues and then go from there.

With the Inlet Manifold Estimate Table, as per Malcolm's response, you should have this as a direct linear relationship, with 0% TPS being 0kPa, and 100%TPS being 100kPa.

Thanks MalcolmG and SDean !

My Injector data is from testing injector myself and I will sent my OEM injector to MoTeC to get the correct injector Data.
Now I set Fuel Injector Primary Off Time to 10us.

TPS tuning is because OEM map sensor is be set to Sync input (Engine Synchronisation Ignore Mode is Enabled)
I will install a MAP sensor on my Plenum to be Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor within few weeks.

But I have another question that I wired the OEM MAP sensor to "Digital Input 2" and made it sync signal, but I still want it to function like a MAP sensor as well. So I set my Inlet Manifold Pressure sensor Resource to UGID 2 Hybrid A. However, its not giving back the right signal. I wonder if my wiring is right or it's the problem of my resource choice.

You need to split the MAP Sensor output to the Universal Digital and an AV input to be able to use it as a MAP Sensor as well. Wiring it into the Digital Input will not work.

Hello Leo, did you end up getting the inyectors calibrated by MoTec? Im doing a similar project to yours and Im stuck with that information. Also what engine speed reference offset did you use? And what ignition coil info? Thanks!!

We do a number of injector calibration each week, so I would need to have the part number of the injectors to be able to supply the required data.

I did the package for the MT-07, and I know that Motec has calibration data for the stock injectors as well as the YZ450 injectors we use in our bikes because I sent both injectors to Motec when I built the package.

The package is available in the the Motec package library under CM Yamaha MT-07 Flat Track.

Edit

The stock MT-07 injector is Denso 1ws 13761 00 00 and that is what Motec has the calibration under.

I can email you the calibration if necessary.
