Newbie Q's std ECU to Motec conversion

So I'm not a techy but I do want to try and understand what I need to buy to convert my current standard engine management system to the M84 and loom that I've acquired.

I have a kit car running a stock AU2 XR8 windsor including the Ford ECU but with the security switched off, care of a Ford techy, standard coil packs and MAF intake, all as sourced from a donor Ford AU many years ago.

I'd like to slightly cam the motor but have learnt the standard Ford ECU can't handle this, hence the acquisition of the M84 to overcome this issue.

Another conversation seems to suggest I need some form of driver to run my coil packs with the M84, else I need to re-discover a distributor set up, is this correct?

I'd prefer not to go the distributer route so need to understand what it is I need to buy to run the coils.

I am also aware that there might be various sensors required.

What might these be and what are they measuring?

I am hoping someone can explain in layman's terms what I need to be aiming for to achieve this conversion.

The basic sensors needed to run an engine using an M84 are as follows;

Crank trigger position sensor
Cam (Sync) position sensor
Throttle Position Sensor
Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor
Engine Coolant Temperature
Inlet Air Temperature Sensor

These should all (IAT is potentially in the MAF sensor) be currently present on the engine as they are the standard inputs for any EFI system, and can be used with the M84 by calibrating the sensor inputs to the M84.

With the coils, they may need to have an external igniter, but most modern coils have built in igniters. How many wires go into the coils? What is the part number of the coils? With that information I should be able to tell you if they need an external igniter or not.

Sorry for the slow response and thanks for taking the time to comment.

Car is up at my engineers at the mo to really confirm but my wiring guide, I think, suggests two wires per each ignition module from the ECU. I'm no great shakes reading electrical wiring either!

I'll try and see if I can get a part number to better describe these too soon.
