PC cannot connect to SDL3

Postby kubaolong on Wed Sep 13, 2017 1:56 am

Hi

My evox rally car has a m800 plug in ecu and SDL3. I've tuned the M800 ecu .but SDL3 no data such as RPM is displayed.(I guess it could be a CAN rate error.)Then I use a standard Ethernet cable try connecting to SDL3(open SDL3 dash manager->Tools->connection settings->add->search) No information was displayed.

How do I connect to SDL3?

Thank you!

EVOx has a 500K CAN bus Make sure this is set up correctly in the dash

Need more information on the PC like what OS are you using

I use the windows8 .And shut down antivirus software.
Can rate cannot be changed because pc cannot connect to SDL3.I use standard Ethernet cable. Not purchased from MOTEC. Will there be any difference?

Thank you very much.

Any standard Ethernet cable will work, there aren't any special cables required.

With SDL3 Dash Manager running, open MoTeC Discovery (Icon with the magnifying glass in the windows system tray) this will give you a list of devices that can be seen on the network. Does the serial number of you SDL3 come up?

You also need to make sure you have IPv6 enabled on your network adaptor.

I changed my laptop and it's connected to CDL3.And set the RATE to the 500K, but still does not display RPM.
SDL3's user manual is not explained in detail.Where is the error?
Than you

How do you have the CAN configured in the Dash and ECU?

If you send me you Dash and ECU configurations I can take a look at them for you. You can send them to support@motec.com.au if you don't wish to post them here.

Be sure you are using the correct dash manager for the dash you have. The SDL3 Dash Manager will only communication with SDL3, and not CDL3 and vis-versa.

I admit that one day I spent far to much time thinking I had an Ethernet configuration problem (swapping cables, re-installing software, etc) , when I was using the wrong dash manager (C185, and the car had a C125)..

So, as someone else who is having PC-SDL3 comms problems.....

Am I correct in thinking that the CAN connection is only used to transfer data between ECU and Dash??? In order to change any settings etc in dash via Dash Manager, it MUST be connected to PC via Ethernet???

That is correct, you use Ethernet for communications between the PC and Dash. What issues are you having? Are you unable to talk to the Dash at all?

Hi Adrian.
I went out and made up an Ethernet line from dash to PC and all is now good. I'm having a separate issue though!!...
I have a SLM which I have wired as per Motec datasheet but unsure whether to wire it into the main CANBUS trunk or connect it direct to the SDL3 second CAN connections??
