DBW option or DBW4 ?

Postby Polux RSV on Mon Mar 05, 2018 11:15 pm

Hi,

I am putting DBW throttles on a bike.
I could choose between single DBW using the M800 DBW option, or dual DBW using the DBW4.

Question is: if I go the DBW4 route, do I need the M800 DBW option enabled ?
If not, how are position translation and blip implemented ?

Thanks

Hello,
You do not need the DBW upgrade for the DBW4. The translation and blip are handled as normal. The DBW4 simply receives a request from the ECU for position from whatever function is in control.

Can you tell me a little more about the project? I can probably give you a bit better advice on which way to go. Have you already got the M800 because an M130 or M150 will do two DBWs without add ons.

Hi Mark,

The project is to drive Ducati Panigale V2 throttle bodies. The previous engine in the bike was driven by an M880, with all cabling already in place.
This option will need the DBW4. Or go the M1 route, which is not the favorite option.
Another option is to use older throttle bodies, which have only one motor, and linkages to the second TB. With this we keep the M880 and buy the DBW option.

Another question: The traction control option is activated and is used. In case of DBW4 use, can the traction control also control the throttle through the DBW4 ?
