Time Variance Gain/Loss rainbow track map

Postby rosicky on Wed Aug 02, 2017 8:51 pm

Hi,

I'm still a beginner and get stuck at the moment while trying to create a Gain/Loss rainbow track map between the two selected "Main" and "Overlay" laps. Searching through the forum and the www didn't help so far.

Mainly I would just need the "Variance" Channel with the Values that you see when pressing F3, but that seems not possible.

Thanks in advance for your support!

I am not sure exactly what you are trying to do, are you wanting to label or colour the track report with the Lap/Gain Loss running values?

Below is an image with a track report that is coloured and also labelled using the Lap Gain/Loss Running. The two windows show the settings I used. You can manually adjust all of the colour bands to make it look more distinctive if you wish.

Sorry to break in here but i have a question regarding this. I don't have the 'gain/loss' channel or math. Can anyone explain what the formula is for that?

Gain/Loss would be the time difference to get to the same lap distance for the reference lap.

In I2, it's called "Variance", -- Right click on a graph, and choose Display->Show Variance (or press F3).

Yes but i can't choose the Variance channel or Gain/Loss channel to make a 'rainbow' track?

Sorry, it's only possible to do the rainbow track map with the Dash-calculated channel "Lap Gain/Loss Running"..

Sounds like a good excuse to use a MoTeC Dash!

I've thought some more about this. If you were logging "Running Lap Time", then the difference between the Running Lap Time and the Overlay Running Lap Time in distance mode would be the "Lap Gain/Loss Running".

I notice that in the current I2 Beta, there is a "variance_dist(x,y)" that might work if you used something like this:

Lap Gain/Loss = variance_dist('Running Lap Time'[s], 'Lap Distance'[ft])

I don't have any data logged with these channels so I can't try it.

Haha i'm using it for a sim (iRacing) so a dash won't be helping me.
Thanks for the tip but then i get two 'dots' next to each other...
