In v1.9/5.9 we added the ability to lock/hide information in the CAN templates, which required us to change the format of the communications templates.

Two (2) other questions:

Can this CAN template be used on CAN 1 rather than CAN 2 ?

Engine RPM is listed in the PLex template. This name conflicts with an existing channel name. When I try to change it ity appears I can only select another one. So how do I create a channel with an appropriate name (say "Engine RPM Plex") so I can select it ?

Yes you can use it on either CAN bus, the main consideration when doing this is the address the Plex unit is using. The dash does restrict a couple of address ranges on CAN 1 that are used with various MoTeC to MoTeC comms.

A list of these addresses can be found here

With the RPM conflict just select another RPM channel (Engine RPM 2 for example) and then go to Tools>Edit Channels, select the RPM channel and then click edit. You can then change the name to whatever you like.
