There is some interesting news on this front. One of the product lines I carry is Autosport Labs -- they have just introduced a new product that will accept 500Kbaud CAN ODB-II queries, and translate those older ODB-II protocols, as used on 1996-2007 vehicles without CAN-based ODB-II.

This may work for you. The Adapter is $99 in the US. Plus we would probably re-terminate it so work with the C125 standards loom.

Nick, where are you located? If you are interested in purchasing a C125 with this solution, I would be willing to do some testing to confirm it can work with the '02 WRX. If you're not located in the US, perhaps your local dealer would do the same.

David. This looks real interesting. I think it will work with my Porsche 996 turbo. I have some stuff on the canbus - but most of the engine data is on k-line

How can I purchase one?

Thanks for your interest.

You can actually order it from our online store:

We don't have that in stock yet, but we'll let you know the expected delivery.

That's actually very promising David! It does support he OBD2 protocol the '02 WRX ECU uses so it should have no issue doing the job it's designed for.

I'm located in Ontario, Canada. OnPoint Dyno is my local Motec guy. I'm going to be doing a full custom harness for this system and redoing the engine harness as part of the reason for going this route over a cluster of gauges on my dash (aside from being able to use sensors that don't fail every 6 months lol) is to help get me started in motorsport wiring. So if all I need to do is put a different connector on the end I'd have no problem doing that.

If this is the key to this conundrum then this definitely changes things. I would definitely be interested in working with you and OnPoint when I'm ready to proceed with this to make sure it works before going all in.
