Display Check Engine Light / MIL

Postby FoxSTI on Mon Mar 13, 2017 3:56 pm

Hello guys, I have been successfully using my C125 so far at the track and I do not really rely on my factory dash. As a matter of fast I want to delete it.

However I would like the C125 to display a MIL of some sort should there be a problem when it arrises, maybe even give me a code in a "diagnostics page" Is this possible via the ODB2 protocol? (my dash is connected directly to the car via ODB2)

The standard config already reads the vehicle DTC's, the GP 5 (0dp) channel will give you the code. There are some limitations with this though.

I believe that if you have more than 2 codes at a time then it will not work correctly. After a quick bit of reading it looks like the DTC's are sent using a transport protocol when there is more than 2 codes, the dash will not be able to read the messages in this format. We have not really done any testing on this because almost no-one really uses the DTC's.

If you wanted a 'check engine' light you could use this channel in a user condition so that whenever there is a code the light comes on.

I would do a search on OBD-II DTC's to get a better understanding of how they work.
