Cleared Data

Hi,

Is there a way to recover cleared data out of an ADL2 dash?

When we purchased our car it came with data in the dash. I tried to download it but after I ticked the "clear data after download" option, the dash had an error and could not download the data. But it cleared it anyway. (This was 6 months ago so I cannot remember the exact wording of the error etc). I never though anything of it as the data was from a track overseas where the car came from.

Fast forward to now, I have been diagnosing an engine issue we have had since we first got the car. I suspect the sellers knew about the issue before they proceeded with the transaction. So I was hoping to get the data out of the dash to confirm my suspicions. I just double checked the dash to confirm that it had intact cleared the data and it has (I removed the dash and installed my C187 as soon as we got the car so haven't used the dash personally).

Is it possible to retrieve cleared data? And is it possible to do it without sending to motec.
