i2 Standard - Track Report questions

Postby FoxSTI on Sun Dec 04, 2016 7:34 am

1- I there a way to ZOOM into a track layout in the track report window? I can zoon into a GPS track by "zooming into" the time line but this doesn't have a similar effect on the track report. I want to be able to Zoon into an area in the report.

2- what establishes the point where the "tag" or notes are being sampled from on a track report?

3- I wish to be able to manually place tag or notes on a track report, can this be done?

No, the track report doesn't zoom. What information are you trying to get by zooming in?

2- what establishes the point where the "tag" or notes are being sampled from on a track report?

If you go to the properties (right click properties or hit F5) you can set how the note is calculated.

What exactly are you trying to do? You can configure what channels are shown, how/where they are calculated from the properties menu.

Adrian,

I think the Zooming on the GPS track needs to be complimented with Panning.
I want the section I am looking at to be in the center of my screen not wherever i2 thinks it needs to be.

Regarding the track report, same concept, maybe I want to zoom into a section of the track to look at the report with less clutter.

I think the track report is not what I thought it would be in my opinion. I thought I would be able to click on it (anywhere) and extract any channel information at that point. Not just Max/Min, Average etc at "random" (seems to me) For instance I want to see my speed at the end of the straight (gray section) I see to way to do that at the moment in the track report. All I can do it pull up a gauge for the channel I want to see and watch the gauge.

Do you have an example of what you mean? i2 simply zooms in far enough to show you the entire selection on the page.

Regarding the track report, same concept, maybe I want to zoom into a section of the track to look at the report with less clutter.

I do sort of see what you mean but that isn't what the track report is designed for. It is supposed to be a general overview of the entire lap. If you want to do more detailed analysis the you should be using time/distance graphs.

I think the track report is not what I thought it would be in my opinion. I thought I would be able to click on it (anywhere) and extract any channel information at that point.

You can simply have a time/distance graph up on the same worksheet, then you can see the value of any channel where ever you click. So for example, in the below screen shot I have clicked on the apex of a particular corner and looking at the time/distance graph I can read the maximum lateral G. I could also have set this up in the track report to give me the same information.

Not just Max/Min, Average etc at "random" (seems to me)

When you create your track map you also generate the sections, ie turn 1, 2, 3, straight 1-2, 3-4 etc. this is what the track report uses when calculating min/max etc.

For instance I want to see my speed at the end of the straight (gray section) I see to way to do that at the moment in the track report. All I can do it pull up a gauge for the channel I want to see and watch the gauge.

Assuming that you consider the 'end of the straight' to be the point at which you hit the brakes and that you have been full throttle for the length of the straight then that's exactly what the track report is giving you.

Here is what I mean.

Image of the entire lap and entire screen.
Image

Lets say I want compare 2-3 laps on the last turn on the GPS maps (driving line)
when I zoom in to that turn, not only does the data (racing line disappear) but I am cornered to the bottom of the screen. I want to see the turn in the center of my screen up close ans see all the driven lines without them going away.
I understand why they are going away. But there way to be a way to just zoom in into the map independently of the data.

I hope this help.

The reason the corner is at the bottom of the screen is because you have a large portion of the straight selected as well. When you zoom in and out this is done in reference to the cursor position. In the screenshot I posted before you can see on the outing graph exactly where the GPS map is zoomed into. If you want to see just the corner, in a time/distance or outing graph select just the data you want to see and the GPS map will zoom to that

In i2 everything is linked to either the cursor position or the selected data range.

no, the corner is at the limit of the track and this is typical at all limits of the track regardless of zoom.

Ok sorry, I though you were talking about the zoomed area showing more than just the corner you were interested in.

There has been a change to the way we display the GPS Track Map that will allow a 20m buffer at the extremes of the map. This will allow you to see the whole corner rather than having the drive line hard up against the edge of the GPS Track Map window. This change will be in the next release of i2.
