Ambient temp PID discepancy

Postby FoxSTI on Mon Nov 14, 2016 5:20 pm

Guys any idea why the returned value from the ambient temp sensor in my car is 20-30 degrees off from what an actual thermometers is measuring?

Settings below.
Thermo read 79F-82F
Car reports 105 F

Do you guys see anything wrong?

Is this taken from a sensor which displays on the stock dash? If so what does your dash report?

So the dash was reporting 80'
This PID apparently read the Oem sensor typically found on the front bumper of cars (typical ambient temperature sesnsor).

This morning oddly enough all 3 values matched. Maybe the car needed to be power cycled? I'll check again when I'm home in a few days. But it was weird. I had something similar happen with a PID reading for the MAF sensor. Wasn't scaling properly.
