I know this is a 9 year old thread, I ran across it looking for something else. I figured I would give some relevant correct information in case anyone else finds this thread looking for Busa Ref/Sync information.
Gen 1 Busa has a mag cam sensor, not a Hall (this was probably the issue with the setup discussed in the thread, no final solution was shared). The 99-00 Busa has an 8-0 (8 tooth no missing) tooth configuration, while the 01-07 has a 24-1. The zero crossing of the cam from the factory occurs during the missing tooth on 01-07, which is an issue for the Motec Mx00 gold boxes. It is also an issue when changing cam timing with an OEM ECU, as a large change can move the cam signal outside of the missing tooth window, causing an ECU error.
Gen 2 Busa has a Hall cam, mag crank, and a 24-2 wheel.
Gen 3 is the same ECU settings as Gen 2, but most parts are different.
CRIP value for all 24 tooth wheels is 102, sometime you need 462 depending on the cam trigger setup. I think the 8 tooth also had this CRIP, I can't remember it has been so long. Every Suzuki from this era and newer we ever did had a 102 CRIP, so if you don't know, 102 is a good guess.
The Gen 1 cam sensor (mag) has a 2 bolt mounting configuration, while the Ge2/3 (Hall) have a 1-bolt, so they won't interchange. But the 2007-2008 GSXR 1000 has a 2-bolt Hall sensor that bolts directly to the Gen 1 Busa valve cover and triggers perfectly. This how we got around the Mx00 issue. With this setup one side of the Hall trigger may still inside the missing tooth window, depending on cam timing, but the other one will be outside. Take a ref/sync capture and figure out what cam setup setup (rising or falling) is needed to be outside the window, and set the CRIP to either 102 or 462 depending on which side of the window it occurs.
If you don't understand the significance of the above, the Mx00 was originally not capable of handling a cam trigger during the missing tooth window, so there was no solution with the Gen 1 OEM mag sensor other than relocating the pin in the cam. Motec later updated the Mx00 software to include a mode with the cam trigger inside the missing tooth. We never used it as the same issue as OEM, that is the very narrow 15 degree cam timing window can cause problems. None of this is an issue with an M1.
Maybe this info will help someone some day.
