CDL3 speed to M800

Postby cotje on Sat Oct 08, 2016 1:10 am

Hi,

I have a nice working combination of M800 connected to a CDL3. Is it possible to transmit the CDL3-GPS-Speed data to the M800 as inputchannel and use it as groundspeed indicator for Launch Control?

I tried configuring a CAN channel to receive ADL data, but to no reveal.

Anyone a solution?

Assuming you are already receiving data from the ECU successfully, something like this should be close. Open the can setup in CDL manager , set to the following. Hex address 0F3 is 243 in decimal which we use in the ecu.

Connections/communications/ Set up a new template on the can bus the ecu is connected to..

General setup/comms/can setup The 243 number is the can address in decimal

That's more or less it, you may have to mess with the addressing a bit.

On a separate point, an actual ground speed from a wheel would be better than gps speed for launch control, if you have it. Actual ground and drive speed sent directly in to the ecu is better still.

Sean with an AWD GPS speed works better for LC since there is really no true ground speed reference during AWD wheelspin.

Thanks guys! Great info.

I entered these setting but there is still no speed metric available in the M800. I also tried another address setting but this did not help either. I must be missing a small detail.

Will send the pictures from my current setting soon.

There is a MoTeC tech note DTN0005 ADL data to M800 via CAN comms, I'll see if I have the .pdf around, as far as I know ADL, SDL, CDL all use the same method.

Edit: Found it.... This is the latest version I had.
