Confused What I am looking at

Postby CarloL on Sun Aug 21, 2016 6:36 am

Hi

I have an M130 with the standard 120mb , car is a road going Toyota Supra

I downloaded the log file based on the Motec Video , I am using I2 Standard software to view (Engine Workspace)

Is this correct , I was expecting to see a Line graph , Engine RPM, Engine Temp

Thanks for posting the link to the files -- Unfortunately your screen shot doesn't have enough detail to determine which specific file you are looking at. But I suspect that the issue is just with channel names. The Engine Workspace uses many of the older channel names, and these have been updated with the M1 series.

For example, the M1 has the channel "Engine Speed" instead of Engine RPM. If you press the V key, it will bring up the values list on the right, you can scroll down to the "Logged Data" section and see the actual channel names that were logged. There are several ways to put a channel on the graph -- you can drag the channel onto the graph. You can remove a channel from the graph (you will need to do this with I2 Standard as there are a maximum number of channels that can be selected even if they don't display), by right-clicking on the channel name on the graph and selecting "Remove Channel" -- for example you will want to do this with "Engine RPM" after you have dragged "Engine Speed" into that section of the graph.

I'll look at your files and post some more details.

OK, Your file S1_#3022_20160620_213310_02.ld has almost 11 hours of data (649 minutes!).

My Engine Workspace has already been updated with M1 channel names so your data was immediately visible on my computer. But I suspect you will what to update channels such as
New Name (possible old name)
Engine Speed (Engine RPM)
Ambient Pressure (Baro Pres)
Inlet Manifold Pressure (Manifold Pressure)
Inlet Air Temperature (Air Temp Inlet)
Coolant Temperature (Engine Temp)
Ignition Timing (Ign Advance)
Exhaust Lambda (Lambda 1 or LA 1)

BTW, you can drag channels onto some of those graphic panels as well (so to change EngineRPM to show EngineSpeed).

Click on the graph to locate the data cursor (the value list on the right will show all the channels at that point in time). You can use the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard (or the scroll wheel on your mouse) to zoom in and out on the data. A short cut to zoom out to everything is "F2".

Looks like you had the CAN bus disconnected about 441:48.5 -- they caused your Exhaust Lambda data to disappear I was -- did you have an LTC connected?

Hopefully that will be enough to get you going...

Thanks David thats Fantastic ! Will look at the channel Names tomorrow , I was using the S1_#3022_20160620_213310_02.ld with the 11 hours of logging :D

I have an LTC connected constantly but some of the logging occurred when the car was getting mapped on the Dyno , maybe why the CAN bus was disconnected

Got it all working and as soon as I connected the laptop to the ECU I could see the Lamda/Can Bus Errors ; I tried all the LTC plugs and it is working again ! Good Catch!

Can you update the ECU and LTC Firmware (1.04J to 1.10C) without affecting the map?

Out of curiosty if the LTC for some reason became disconnted or faulty , I presume it just reverts to Open Loop , engine is safe?

Yes, You can.

As long as the tune is correct, i.e. closed loop hasn't been used to mask fuelling issues, then not having the Lambda connected will be OK.
