Cam trigger issue

Postby Marshy 2016 on Fri May 06, 2016 11:17 am

Hi all need some help

I've just bought a brand new M800 ecu for my Subaru Impreza V7 uk model

It's been installed and had a map on it to start up and runs fine on idle

Soon as you drive it and engine gets to 2500rpm it goes limp, like something holding back then once it goes past 3000 rpm it comes to life again and takes off like it should do.

It's cam trigger related but not sure where.

I've bought two brand new genuine Subaru crack and cam sensors. Wasn't that.
Have a new wire loom made direct from
Cam and crank sensor straight to ecu. Wasn't that.
Tried another brand new m800 ecu. Wasn't that.
New cam AVCS pulley fitted in case it was the pick up points damaged. Still wasn't that.
Tried spacing the cam sensor back abit with a flat washer just made it run worst.

If u start the car and unplug cam sensor it runs perfect just how it meant to.

So I don't know where to go from here.
Any help at all?

Many thanks Marshy

Not sure about errors as I didn't see what was coming up on the mappers laptop
And I ain't got the CAN to USB adaptor to check myself ATM

Umm crank and cam scope looked pretty spot on how it meant to

It was the RPM trace that was all over the place
Flat nice smooth line till got to 2500 rpm and it when like a rapid heart beat
After 3000rpm nice and smooth again

I've been reading a lot on Motec set up on single
AVCS Subaru Impreza

They change the cam mag sensor to a Hall effect sensor

Could that be my issue with mine?

Who does ?

And it could be...but finding out what errors are coming up, and grabbing a sync scope trace during the problem would give some info as to possible causes.

Without any info, you're just pissing into the wind. Strong wind

Yeah I know I'm lacking info.
Should have my CAN To USB adaptor by next week

So I be able to find all the errors and be able to get a sync scope of the issue when it happens

So I will post it up soon as
