Steering and Brake sensors - what else to log

Good Afternoon folks,

What type of sensors do I need to shop around for to be able to log my brake use and steering angle input on my C125.
I have been reading some information that suggests those along with throttle position, rpm, GPS or Vehicle speed are some good parameters to start looking at how I am driving and start learning form.

I am open to adding others if useful. I want to log my track runs along with lap times to improve my driving.

Also, how is a dial input configured? Id like to add a turn dial to control the brightness of my display.

Hi,

We have sensors that let you log brake pressures and steering angles.

Steering angle sensors; http://motec.com.au/sensors/position/

Brake pressure; http://motec.com.au/sensors/pressure/ You will need the 2000psi sensor for the brake sensor.

You can use the GPS input for the track mapping.

Thanks for the link. Where does the brake sensor get installed?
Is what what I need to see how much brake I applied and where and for how long?

I looked at the competitors site and it appears that I would have to cut my braided lines to place a T to take the sensor... So the next question is, how does one determine the best corner (wheel) to install this into?

The Brake Pressure sensors are installed in the brake line, usually close to the master cylinder. You should not have to cut the braided lines, there should be a fitting that can be used to get the sensor in to the line. If you have ABS then having the sensor mounted between the ABS control unit and caliper can result in spurious readings for the pressure, as the ABS cycles the brakes to reduce wheel lock, you may be hard on the pedal and be recording no pressure at the caliper as the ABS has bleed the pressure off. If you are using only a single sensor, then I would do the front axle first (beware of diagonal systems on road cars) as this will have the greatest amount of work in a braking situation.

Obviously care has to be taken when doing the install and the correct fittings that are designed for the pressures involved used.

If you log the pressures, then you can see how and when you got on the brake, and how long for against the track map or other data.

Can you make a recommendation of fitting the will fit the Honeywell sensor?
I think its important to log braking and accel. The GPS and accelerometer on the C125 should also help provide come insight am I correct?

Also, can you please point me to write up on how to program and dial (pot) to a AT or AV input please?

Not knowing the full layout of the braking system in the car that you have, a fitting like this will allow for the correct thread for brake sensor (1/8th NPT) to be tee'd into place. If you are not sure, then I would take the sensor to a brake place and ask them to install it for you.

To setup a rotary dial for backlight brightness, wire it into an AV input and then calibrate the input in Dash Manager.

To do this go to Connections>Devices and add "Backlight Brightness" to the input you have wired the dial into. Now click on "Change Cal" and for each position on the switch click the "Read Value" and then set the brightness percentage you want for that switch position.

Now go to the display setup, click on the backlight tab and then select "Use Channel Value" and make sure the "Backlight Brightness" channel is selected.

Send the config to the dash and it should be good to go.
