Corrosion on PDM

Does anyone have an idea what would cause this corrosion on one PDM32 and not the other one as seen on this picture of a Porsche RSR:

The only thing I can think of is grounding differences/leakage currents causing electrolysis.

It is the kind of corrosion you might expect to see in an aluminium boat with copper wire left lying on the hull.

Looks like galvanic corrosion.
