over RPM before reaching limit

Postby benjamindp on Mon Apr 25, 2016 11:04 pm

Hi,
When we're testing on the dyno. The OVERRPM comes at 6500-7000rpm while the limit is set on 8000.
This is the setup we've got.

because of this problem we can't measure our power and torque at 7000-8000rpm.
Any suggestions how we can solve this problem?

Are you sure the OverRPM message isn't from your dyno? My dyno has a maximum RPM, and to keep within that I often have to use a lower gear (higher gear ratio).

And are you sure you havent an rpm limit enabled somewhere else ? Maybe speed based, gear based etc ?

And what if you set that rev limited to say 4000, or 10,000 ? How does it behave ?

motec only knows engine speed ( rpm ). No gears or wheel speed.
Setted the limit on 9000. Now i can rev until 8000-8200.
then we've got the error again.
Maybe to much noise on sync/rev signal?

no the dyno doesn't limit the RPM.
Even in neutral i can't rev over 7000..

Are you getting any crank/cam errors ?

Is the engine tuned correctly as far as fuel/spark goes ?
