Older M4 Pro

Postby sam7 on Sun Apr 10, 2016 6:24 pm

The Motec M4 pictured below was bought new many years ago for a project that didn't proceed. It's been sitting in a box complete with a new loom and sensors ever since. Going by the serial number ( in the 800's ) it must be quite an early M4.

Is there any reason why this unit shouldn't still work and can it be upgraded to last version of the firmware? Is there anyway I can get the unit to perform a basic self test before I go down the path of trying to install it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You will need a PCI or CIM cable to communicate with the M4, as well as a Software Update Unit (SUU) to be able to update the firmware, otherwise there should not be any issues.

Thanks Stephen,

I've sent it to Turboshop in Dunedin to get the firmware upgraded. Looks like the last firmware version was released in 2008 so I guess there's unlikely to be any further releases and not much point in me owning a SUU.

Thanks
Sam
