Critical sensors

Postby greenamex2 on Wed Aug 19, 2015 12:35 am

Hi all

I have the following sensors on my M130 attached (eventually) to a Nissan V6 running ITB and Naturally Aspirated -

Coolant temp
Oil temp
Oil pressure
Fuel temp
Fuel pressure
Lambda (two, one per bank via LTCD)
Throttle position
Air pressure (One, assuming this is going to just be barometric)
Air temperature (One, assuming this is going to just be air box temperature)
Gear position (Hewland sequential box)
Knock sensor (single mounted in the middle of the V)

Keeping in mind my limited number of input (albeit to improve with the next GPA release, thanks!), are there any other important sensors, possibly even more important than above?

Any other comments welcome....owing to a number of unfortunate circumstances I am having to be engine builder/ECU installer/wiring loom manufacturer/milling maching operator/welder/customer etc and am more than willing to accept more experienced advice.

Thanks in advance.

I'd add gear lever force sensor to tell ecu when driver tries to shift gears up or down. This to aid smooth shifting. :)

Its not a sensor as such, but if you have enough inputs a 9 position rotary pot/switch is often handy. Can be used for many trims and things, especially useful when initially testing the vehicle on track.

Definitely doing that. Looking out for a MDD or D153 for the right money.

If not then using some spare outputs....got to love the m130's flexibility!

If you're after a display a bit cheaper than the Motec stuff, this Plex dash is great.

You're gonna need vehicle speed in there as well. Front and Rear if you want traction control (GPR).
Coolant pressure is handy. Helps diagnose head gasket failure.
EGT is nice to have as well.

Are these critical, no, but they sure come in handy quite often.
