Dwell map for VAG 06E905115E COP

Hi,

After getting my car running on the new VAG Coil on plugs on my M800, I'm looking for the known-good dwell map. Can someone share this with me?

Currently I only have a simple Batt depended map.

I already found some info on VW forums but these consist of two maps (Batt/RPM and RPM/Load). Below the RPM/Load map I found.

RPM/Load 17 20 26 34.5 69 86 102 120 137 165
440 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0
480 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0 3.0
1000 2.6 2.3 2.3 2.4 2.4 2.6 2.7 2.9 3.0 3.0
2000 2.4 2.2 2.3 2.3 2.4 2.6 2.7 2.8 2.9 2.9
2520 2.1 2.0 2.1 2.1 2.2 2.5 2.6 2.8 2.9 2.9
3000 1.9 1.8 1.9 2.0 2.1 2.3 2.5 2.7 2.8 2.8
4000 1.6 1.7 1.8 1.8 1.9 2.1 2.3 2.5 2.7 2.7
5000 1.5 1.6 1.7 1.7 1.8 1.9 2.1 2.3 2.5 2.5
6000 1.5 1.5 1.6 1.6 1.7 1.8 1.9 2.1 2.3 2.3

Use the aux table from an unused output with RPM and Load as axes to generate a value of say 50% to 100% then use this as an axis in the ign dwell table along with battery voltage, use the aux table value as a dwell multiplier and keep it within max dwell per RPM and max dwell per voltage constraints.

Wow, that sounds kind of advanced programming  Need to 'digest' this first before trying :D

@scott: understand w/here you are going now but after playing around I experience these COP not having much dependcy on vBatt. My current map is at 1.0ms below 100KPA and 1.8 above 100KPA. Car starts perfectly and I could even lower the dwell are for idle to 0.8ms. Runs very. very smooth at idle.

Now the next problem occurs: while driving car runs smooth and strong upon 200KPA (without overboost). If I enable overboost the car misfires shortly for 1 or 2 moments. 1 during boostbuild, the other when boost gets build down.
I also notice the car is running 10% richer with this setup (in comparison to the distribitor setup). Is this normal, due to better spark/ignition?

next steps:
- I will try playing with the sparkplug (NGK BKR8IEX) gap (now 0.7, will try 0.5 as proposed on other forums with these COPs)
- I tried altering dwell from 1.5ms to 3ms but this did not change the behavior

Picture of the sparkplug below. Looks like it's running a little to hot?!

Any other suggestions?

Hi all,

Sorted the misfire by reverting back to the old MAG SYNC sensor. The newer Hall sensor was cause for misfiring.

The dwell for the VAG cops is also sorted:
around idle set dwell to 0,8-1,2
all other ranges set dwell to 2,0

Runs perfect on these values!
