M400 Outputs

I have an M400, all the auxiliary outputs are occupied. Can I use ign 5&6 and inj 5,6,7,8 as outputs? What are the limitations.

Sorry but it is only M800 where you can use Ign. an Inj. as outputs.
Also, M400 have only 4 Ign/Inj.

Yes, if you choose to use the expander outputs as needing an aux table, you can set up the expander to only use unassigned ind cyl trim tables, or all of them. If things are getting pretty 'full', reassign outputs that don't require a table (fuel pump(s), fans etc.) to the expander and keep your fuel trim tables.

I'm not positive but believe fuel trim tables 5-8 are still present in firmware on the M400 and can be reassigned to the expander. Ask Motec to verify.

One last thing.

Does the can bus need setting up for send and receive for E888? Eg can 1 for sensors and can 2 for aux outputs?

Yes you need to set up CAN comms for the expander, you use one CAN address for send and one for receive, receive from E888 is CAN X data = 9, CAN X address= 243, transmit to E888 is CAN Y data = 2, CAN Y address = 240. So if you are only using the expander for its sensors and aren't using the outputs you don't need to set up for address 240. Once you set up CAN comms for 'transmit to E888' the injector outputs menu gets changed to 'Expander Outputs' and your setup for available tables or none shows up.
