No go

Postby KarlH on Sat Nov 15, 2014 2:58 pm

Hi all,

Ive got a 2.0 ford pinto in a mk1 escort with motec M4 and at the moment it will start and run with no problems, it will rev and I can get it up to temp, but as soon as I take it for a drive it goes about 200 to maybe 500 meters and stalls, it then will not starts again for hours! when I then try to start it it cranks over quite well, it has a fairly new battery but there is no ignition, after a few hours it almost starts for a while firing maybe for a second or so then after maybe three hours just starts! It was only about six months ago that I drove it about 30 kms to my new place with out a problem, before that I drove it from Melbourne (where I purchased it) to my place in Adelaide, it has been sitting in the shed ever since, I start it and get it up to temp about once a month.
By the way, when it stops if feels like there is no fuel pressure or something, it doesn't just stop quickly it kind of bogs down, if I rev it it stops quite fast but if I give it small revs it seems to go for a bit longer with my foot on the clutch!
Any thoughts?

Cheers Karl
