Motec M800 idle controle to warm up engine.

Postby Kip on Mon Nov 17, 2014 4:27 am

I was at the IDM race here watching the the 2 14B R1s who are running the motec M880 .

I noticed that when they started the bikes up they just left the bikes alone and they did rev themselfs to a temperature of 70°C and than went to normal idle .

Is this possible with a M800 ?

Yes,

The only difference between an M800 and a M880 is the connector, the internal firmware is the same.

The is done using the idle aim control, and having the idle aim vs. engine temp so that at a low engine coolant temp, the idle aim is high, and then phasing it back to the normal idle range when the coolant temp has come up to the proper operating range.

Thnx for the reply ,

When using the aim control I understand you can get the engine rpm higher or lower depending on the eng temp ,
but they had the engine revving up and down until it got the engine got up to operating temp .

Probably DBW and timer or run time x coolant temp table , or something similar. Lots of ways to skin that cat, even a simple on/off large flow capacity purge solenoid bypassed to the manifold.

Lots of ways to skin that cat ?

Not for everybody I think :p

How would you setup it runtime X coolant temp table ?
