M130 queries

Postby greenamex2 on Sun Nov 02, 2014 8:23 am

My Motec dealer is trying to push me in the M130 GPR direction rather than the M84/M600. Can someone please confirm the following -

Can the "peak and hold" injector pins control saturated injectors? M1TUNE seems to suggest they can.

Can the unit work quite happily without lambda sensors? Can't afford the LTC units yet.

Thanks in advance

Other than the above, looks a promising option.

At the moment, I am not aware of any work-around code for the M1 series to measure Lambda without a LTC. That's not to say someone hasn't done it with a custom package, just that it's not an option in the generic GPR code.

Injectors should not be a problem. The main difference between the 2 boxes with regard to fuelling is that you need to have a FULL injector characterization model to take advantage of all the fuelling features that M1 offers.

Thanks.

Seems a bit odd to sell an ECU that need Lambda sensors...but doesn't have lambda inputs.

The M1 series of ECU's do not need to have a lambda input to run, you can tune the engine using a wideband and then disconnect it and as long as the engines operating conditions do not vary outside of the ECU's ability to compensate, then it will run fine. You however lose a lot of the protections that can be used when you have a lambda input, if you do not have one.

Ah, that makes more sense...
thanks for the info.

Looks like the best long term is to go m series now and save my pennies for the LTC unit later on.

Sorry, one last silly question.....

Can the knock sensor pins ONLY be used for knock sensors. M1 Tune seems to allow you to assign them to pretty much any sensor type.

Thanks in advance.
