Diesel engine?

Postby Shiggy on Wed Sep 24, 2014 1:04 pm

Hi

I'm wondering if M1 ECU can support diesel engine with solenoid type DI injectors.

The M1 direct injection variants (M141, M142, M181, M182) support a wide range of both inductive and piezo injectors, both direct injection petrol (gasoline) and diesel. The injector peak current and voltage requirements just need to be within the range supported by the hardware.

However we have not yet released a standard diesel engine firmware.

I have been in contact with Peter in the UK and also arrange a meeting with him in Germany regarding diesel application but it seems for now there is no real focus on the diesel part.
Still I think the M1 range ECU can benefit to our diesel projects that we handle with open source or development ECU systems due to the constant changing control architecture of the latest generation diesel fuel system.

In general if the M1 range can be further developed so we get the freedom we can implement our control strategy and we will be able to run diesel with and external drivers for both injectors and ultra hi fuelpumps like the Delphi F2D fuel systems for example.
