Andrew,
I have used a few of AEM 30-2310 inline wideband controllers with a M48 (and other ECU's) and have found them to be a really good reliable unit with reasonably good accuracy. They are my pick of the bunch from the common 'budget end' wideband's available right now.
However be aware that it will take some extra work to get a M48 working with more modern wideband controllers since it only accepts about 1.2V max into it's lambda input whereas most widebands including the AEM give a 0-5V output.
You will need to use a 5:1 voltage divider and also mess around a bit in the M48 user defined lambda table to get the Motec lambda display to match the AEM. When I do it I use two laptops so I can view the AEM via its serial connection at the same time as the Motec on a second laptop. You can PM me if you need some help since it might get too involved to try to cover it in a forum post.
