Vdc from Battery drops to 11.50 during cranking. Really stumped, I am wondering if my timing light pooped out? I should get a light from#1 during crip test, no errors during cranking, see Sync error once I let the starter button go, but that seems to be normal Thoughts?? On a side note, we run a Pista dash, and rpm does not show up during cranking. odd

Andrew, considering you now have a valid RPM reading during cranking and no errors that would suggest to me that you have most of it right. Have you tried a spark plug in #1 lead to see if there is a visible spark present?

I would not worry about the dash yet - that is unlikely to be related.

Adam,
Ref and sync seem to be ok. RPM is steady at 180 during cranking, no errors. We see no sync to sync when turning it over. No spark at 1 with plug, no light in timing light either (redundant I know). Replaced all 12 Denso 580s still same. Wondering if expander issue? Odd thing is we had spark during Crip adjust, but seems to be an intermittent issue. Maybe we should go with M600 and no expander, just spit the coil signal wires to 12 coils?

Is your IEX the special modified version for the denso/LSx coils? I know some of the denso coils don't like the extra dwell that the IEX gives at cranking speeds.
Can you try starting the engine to see if it runs ok at normal speeds or do you still have something else to finish before you can try?
Can I see your map?

Adam,

I did not know the IEX may need to be modified. Let me reach out to Simon @ motec Cali, and see what it takes to get it modified. I think I can get you my map. thanks for the tip..
