Reduce power

Postby sphilips on Thu May 15, 2014 7:08 am

We race a 1000cc motorcycle. I want to reduce power in the lower gears because it is impossible to give full throttle without wheelies. Thus the TC grabs in. I think it s better to reduce the power. But how can I achieve this the best way?

I would suggest just reducing the ignition timing as the best way to reduce the power.

If gear detection is already set up correctly it would be simple to set up an ignition comp, X axis RPM, Y axis gear or MPH.

Retarding the ignition by 20 degrees will likely put some energy (heat) into the exhaust, which may not be desired.

Does it have a cable throttle or DBW?
Either way, the controller of the throttle is a classic way to limit power.

gear detection is correctly setup. I'll try this.

It uses a classic cable. Honda cbr1000rr 2012 model.

In the hrc unit there is a way off limiting power in the lower gears. This is used to temper the power and making the drivers life a bit easier.

Now the TC is cutting in all the time because the front wheel is lifting alot. So I thought it would be beter to reduce the power and lower the chance of making a wheelie.
