M880 Firmware version V3.41

Hello I apologize in advance for what are likely stupid newbie questions

We have acquired a non running since '08 car

M880 showing V3.41
ADL2 dash V 4.20Y

We really want to download any saved data in the ECU and the dash before doing the firmware upgrades.

Going through the old software downloads I can find a ADL2 dash manager (4.02S2) that will allow me to connect to the dash and download
But I can't find a compatible I2 version to open it

EDIT I2 Standard 1.03.0106 appears to work


The ECU, the versions of the ECU manager I find either say the firmware in the ECU needs to be updated OR is newer and will be downgraded. Nothing in the middle

I know the answer is to get the latest firmware in the dash and the M880 but I would at least like to get the info from them first.

My questions,
Is there a way to find out exactly what versions I need?
After that, when I update the firmware in the ECU , I know I will lose any saved data but what about everything else?
Does the programming stay or is everything gone?

Same question about the dash, do all the settings get erased and I have to start from scratch ?

What do you mean by 'saved data' in the ECU? You should be able to DL any currently present ECU datalogs with i2 unless things are password protected, and a copy of the ECU cal is contained in the log, once again unless password protected. Firmware upgrades do not destroy ECU calibration, however sometimes major conversions are required due to changes/additions such as v2 to v3.

If you can handle an 8MB email I can send you v3.41G2 which is probably slightly newer than what you have but still v3.41. Send me a PM.
