Honda CBR 1000 09 M84

Hi,

I am looking to run a CBR 1000 09 engine in a caterham, i have a stand alone M84 unit but will need a loom and connector etc. Has anyone done this yet or tried them together, im in the initial stages of the build so im not fully clued up on the engine yet with regards to the way its controlled and whats specifics it has. Its a pure race application and data logging and display are taken care of with race technology DL1 + 3.

Very 'noice' project...

Does that also put you into a <1000cc class?

It may also be possible to get it all going with the OEM ECU...
Do Caterhams generate much side-load ???
But I assume that the motorcycles never have to worry too much about lateral loads pulling out away from the pick-up ???
So if I was me (and if I was on a budget), I would consider investigating the oil control at some point.
(And probably a point early-on.. Pre ECU)

You can use OEM ECU, but they have a restrictor for top speed which limits Revs in 6th so you need a bazzaz plus a power commander to get the extra power, so a couple hundred mor and your in aftermarket ECU territory with data logging and mapping ability etc

Side loading would depend on tyre choice and class but reasonable enough to justify sump adjustments so the engine will be lubricated at the bottom with a billet baffled sump.
