autometer transducers into motec

Postby terryo on Mon Jul 01, 2013 10:37 pm

i recently got a pile of ex NASCAR stuff which included some lovely looking 3 wire pressure transducers. I cant find any tech data on them so i cant work out if they can be used as inputs into a M800. apparently they are used with Autometer full-sweep gauges and they have a dedicated harness.
anyone got got any experience with them??
i need a calibration curve if possible
thanks

possibly the same as supplied with Haltec/Racepack.
i was hoping to use them for fuel and oil pressure.

Hopefully they are just industrial sensors with 0 to 5V output.
They are both gauge scale sensors according to the stickers.
One is 0 to 15 psi and the other is 0 to 100 psi.

The setup would be something like this in a M800 0 psi = .5V and 15 (or 100 ) psi = 4.5V

Most likely either SSI or an overseas produced sensor, had a client a bit back try to get scaling info, but Autometer couldn't provide anything.

Use a sensor of the same range you know the scaling of, and plumb both up and wired to the ECU. Match the scaling and see if values are within range.

i finally got a reply from autometer confirming they are linear 0.5-4.5V. i have a pin-out diagram if anyone wants one

If you have more sensors, I would be interested. (2x 0-15, 3x 0-100)
Then I could provide the calibration tables for them.

Most likely there is a +, -, and shield for the 3-wires.
Probably ties the shield down at either the far end or the ECU/ACL/Dash.
Personally I would do it at the logging end, but the connector is an option.
Can you post the diagrame to Flicker?

The + is easy. If the ingest point is a differential input then - is also easy.
If it is single ended, then tie - to the shield or case.
Again I would do that at the ECU end .

If you have any noise on the system, then I would not tie the shield down at both ends.
