ADL3 connect to Kawasaki ZX-10R

Postby Evan on Thu Jan 24, 2013 1:12 pm

I'm installing an ADL3 logger onto a 2012 Kawasaki ZX-10R engine. Is it feasible to connect directly to the stock engine ECU to record typical engine values (e.g. RPM, temps, pressures, etc.)? What does it take to accomplish this?

The 2011/12 ZX-10R uses CAN so you wont need any external hardware to communicate with the bike.
However I do not have/know of anyone with a can comms template, you would need to find the can addresses.
A quick search on google shows the available channels as:
RPM
Front wheel speed
Rear wheel speed
Throttle position
Engine Coolant temperature
Intake Air temperature
Gear
Clutch Switch
Mode
Traction control
Shifter Switch
Pit Switch
Diagnostic code 1
Diagnostic code 2
Diagnostic code 3
Battery Voltage

I hope that's enough to get you started?

Matt was pretty much there.

This ADL2 file has the CAN comms already set up so you can just copy the comms into your ADL3 file.

MattW, thanks a lot.

AlanB, that ADL2 file was perfect, thank you very much! We have another car with a first generation ADL and I'd like to port that ADL2 file to work with the older ADL dash as well. Is that possible? How do I accomplish that?

sincerely,
Evan

Hi Evan.

Unfortunately there is no automated way to port them back into your older ADL. You will just need to manually set all the parameters up the same as the ADL2 file.
