M84 and PDM

Postby Martin on Thu Jan 20, 2011 6:43 am

Is it at all possible to have an M84 communicate with a Motec PDM?

What options are there to interface these two devices?

Good news,
I currently have the latest test software with a CAN ouput that works for the PDM (and VCS). The channels are:

Ground Speed
RPM
Gear
Efficiency
TPS
Engine Temp
Air Temp
Oil Press
Fuel Press

Great!!!

this sounds good for the new ecu. ;) ;) ;)

when do you expect a brelease for M84?
Is there a release for PDM as well to obtain the mentioned channel working?

The release will hopefully be soon, we just have to make sure all the changes are good.

There is no need for a special version of PDM manager becasue you can configure the CAN inputs to the PDM as you like.

Attached is a configuration for the PDM with the M84 CAN channel.

Can a M84 and PDM15 be configured so that the ECU can use the CANBus to control the fuel pump, thermo fan and other functions not included in the list in the above post, or is it only those CANBus messages available?

These messages should be enough for the PDM to control these devices.
e.g:
Fuel pump - Prime when first powered up and on when over 50rpm
Thermo Fan - On when Engine Temp over 80 and Groud Speed under 60
etc.

Is there any document describing how to set up M84 to PDM Comms?
