DC and a G-circle gauge (X-Y/scatter plot)

Postby SportsCarRacer on Thu Aug 04, 2022 2:36 pm

Hi All,

I have a 2020 Mustang GT with a g circle gauge in the cluster (see pic) essentially its a graphic of concentric circles, with an X-Y plot of lat (x axis) and long (y axis) with the "needle" or cursor as a dot that moves in the x-y plane across the static graphic.

I have a 2018 Focus RS which i have decoded the x & Y g sensors on CAN, among some other powertrain stuff....i wish to do the g-circle thing for my C187 for the RS with X_Y (or scatter plt) graph over a fixed image grpahic.

Another page i wished to create was a compressor map page...i have instrumented pre/post comp and turbine temp & pressure, and turbospeed, and wish to plot the current corrected massflow and Pressure ratio as a X-Y plot again over an mage of the compressor map (which i have, PR is y axis, Corr Maassflow x axis). I am doin all the maths calcs for the corrections, the channels i am reading now are accurate, just want a fancy way to plot them.

I already have started the rear axle torque splits (GKN rear torque vectoring), and have a functioning engine power meter (as i found the flywheel output torque EngOut_Tq_ CAN signal an RPM on CAn, and multiply them to get a Engine Power)...just like a Veyron. Very interesting analysing what is coming out....the next one is using the onboard yaw and steeering torque and angl from the steering CAN

CAn anyone assist with the best way to do an X-Y/Scatter plot in DC...i have seem the new x-y #D object, but NO INFO (except the forum thread below, which was quite vague)

The way i thought could work is build the concentric circles as the background "gauge outline" graphic, and the "cursor" could be like a small circle/ball graphic, perhaps with crosshiars. As i understand it, the 3D x-y object centres the "cursor" in the centre of the gauge graphic, with the x and y displacement channels then offset the "cursor graphic relative to the origin....

A simple x-y graph with graticules would be an AWESOME addition to the std obejcts in DC software ;-)

There is a specific 3 Axis switch for this very function:

See attached for a very basic example of the system function.

Thanks Nathan!

That's a worthwhile, but basic example of hat i'm trying to achieve. I think with a more graticuled background, and a smaller ball cursor, we are on a winner!
I'll keep you posted on progress!

Is there some request in the system for an object that could draw a decent X-Y plot, analogous to a x-Y / scatter plot on I2? This would be very useful live for a lot of functions.

Also, a live "worm" graph, say for functions like lap time above/below reference lap? Some sort of live, rolling value vs target graph would be very useful feature
