Alarms

I am setting up alarms in DC, I can get them to display the messages and everything as I intend. I have alarms set up in my ECU and I am just sending those status to the dash to trigger the alarms. However, I am not certain on how to use the alarm acknowledge function. My question is in relation to the way the standard non display creator allows you to acknowledge the alarm to hide or remove the warning for a certain amount of time.

Do I need to create the alarm in Dash Manager first and then send a new channel through DC to display on the dash? this just seems like a few extra steps that could be handled in DC directly.

Hi,

I would recommend configuring all alarms in Dash Manager as you would if you were using the fixed layouts.

You will notice that once an alarm has been created in Dash Manager the alarm channels will automatically be included in the channels transmitted to Display Creator, see attached image below.
(you may need to update the DBC file in Display Creator if it doesn't automatically prompt for an update)

This will also create an alarm in Display Creator which makes use of the alarm channels to dynamically control the displayed values and messages.

In reality this means that all of the alarms in Dash Manager can be displayed using one alarm in Display Creator.

Thank You for the reply. If I understand this correctly, the dash will not send the individual alarms. It will just trigger an alarm function and then it will send the message as an enumeration to be displayed in the Display creator side?

Without an actual dash live to a dash manager, there is no way to bench test/simulate this?

Yes that's correct except that the alarm message is sent as text rather than an enumeration.

You won't be able to simulate this because not all of the alarm channels are available to simulate in Display Creator.

Ok, Thank you for the clarification.
