Is there no way to change pages while in simulation mode?

Postby KMJ Racing on Thu Nov 17, 2016 11:44 am

Hi all,
Is there no way to change pages while in simulation mode or am I missing something? Also is there a way to simulate alarms while in simulation mode?

When you say you are in simulation mode do you mean you have gone to Online>Simulate in Dash Manager or are you using the simulate page in Display Creator?

If you are in simulate mode in Dash Manager, then all of the actual inputs are ignored and you have to simulate them from the simulate window. If you have a button that changes page then you simply create a button for that channel and pressing it will change the page. You can also simulate any other channel so that you can test your alarms.

Simulate in DC works in a similar way except it only lets you simulate the channels you have configured in DC. This means that if you have an alarm channel setup in Dash Manager then you won't be able to simulate it as DC only receives the result of the alarm from Dash Manager not the conditions that make it active.

Yes, in Display Creator you can change the value of the channel "Display Page" (or whatever channels you have used for the Condition to display the page).

If you set the "Minimum" and "Maximum" under the Channels & Function tab for the Display Page channel, then when simulating you will have a slider that makes it easy to change the value.

Also, now that you can connect the simulation to I2, you could log channels from the dash such as "Display Page" so that it changes like the user did. You could create a logging file (or just run it live) using the "Simulate" Function in the Dash Manager with various page changes, alarms, etc.
