Filtering Values

Hi,

playing around a bit with a C185 and Display Creator. Wondering how to filter numeric values for showing on the dash. If I use Dash Manager, I can input a filter value for each channel. How can this be done in Display Creator? Except for building math channels in Dash Manager and sending filtered values to Display Creator.

thanks,
Robin

Hi Robin,

It depends on exactly what you are trying to do. DC doesn't have a way of 'filtering' a channel however if all you want to do is make a numeric channel more 'viewable' you can get a similar result by reducing the refresh rate (select the channel value and it is one of the properties in the right hand window).

Hi Adrian,

thanks for your answer. Yes, I know about the "Refresh Rate". But with this you still have "jumping" values, with large differences between each displayed value which still is not very good to read in some cases.
The filter-function where you can enter a time constant and get a mean-value is much better. Would be very good to have this also in DC.

regards,
Robin

Hi Robin,

I have added channel filtering as a feature request for DC.

What I have thought would be ideal would be the ability to set up all of your channels and other functions in a "Vanilla" form in the dash manager and use the DC software purely to lay out the visual display of the result.

Thank you Adrian!
That is one of the biggest advantages of MoTeC
