Relay Channels to DC

Postby Anthony on Sun Sep 25, 2022 1:12 am

Starting a seperate post on this.

I've reached the max amount of channels that DM can auto generate the .dbc for and am trying to use the relay to DC function (checkbox in DM under the communications tabs) for some additional channels as mentioned in the linked post.
https://www.motec.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=4944&start=10

It doesn't appear in the help guides/docs but,
I have checked the box, saved and sent the config. (both from DM & DC)
I am using the same imported .dbc in DM and DC but in DC I don't seem to be getting any data.

I have attached a simplified version of my set-up.
The data I'm really wanting to see is the pump data, for test purposes, the main page in the example is set-up with 2x data sets.
Left = Channels Relayed to DC
Right = Channels from the Auto .dbc creation in DM

Hi Anthony,

The Relay to DC check box is broken, so that will not work. I can't confirm which version of dash manager it broke in, and which older versions still have the checkbox work.

The work around is to create a new template, and set the device to "receive message relay". This is the only step that needs to be set (you don't need to define anything else)

This only needs to be done once for that buses messages to be relayed.

Some general advisements for this function:
- It can only be done on CAN 1 or 2
- It should only be done on 1 bus
- If more than one of these relay templates is present on a bus, it will double up on the messaging (you can crash a dash with multiple relay templates)
- It does not update the internal display .dbc in any way - you need to import a suitable dc into display creator to receive the messages
