Analog inputs

Hi
First of all - please bear with me as this is my first time configuring anything Motec.
Im running a C1812, paired with D153 and SLM.
i have a couple questions, starting off easy;
I have installed a linear potmeter to read rudder angle. Sensor is calibrated, and the SLM is displaying the position using user conditions. However, when im making a horizontal bar graph on the C1812 with the same signal input im not getting any values or movement. Same with trim cylinders, im seeing the correct values when im monitoring the channels in dash manager, but no movement of the graph on the display.
CAN comms timeout
I have CAN 1 connected to the mercury CAN bus with the correct .DBC file. No issues there. i think.
CAN 2 is used for SLM and D153. Im getting comms with both units on this bus as the slm is operational and the d153 has been configured, but im still getting the can comms timeout message a couple of seconds after powering up the system.
