C185 Communication Issues

Hello,

I have a C185 that I have been having issues connecting to. I am using an ethernet cord to directly connect to the dash and the device shows up in my discovery, but will not communicate, giving me "received response from host with invalid TTL" and a few other error messages.

I have tried different cords, computers, and wiring combinations for the ethernet socket. I have ensured that I am running the correct version of the C185 dash manager software that the dash is running (6.40J) and have also tried reinstalling it. I made sure my IPV6 is turned on and I have tried to force my IPV4 to use a manual IP address. I have also tried connecting the dash to a router and then connecting both wirelessly and over ethernet and I got it to work once wirelessly but cannot get it to repeat.

I have no problem connecting to my M130 ECU using the same ethernet cord and laptop so I am a bit stumped on where to go from here.

Any suggestions or advice on things to try?
Thank you

Most of the usual suggestions have been done. That you can connect to the M130 without issues points to the underlying communication on the laptop being correctly setup, as they both use the same protocols.

I would be checking the Ethernet cabling from the C185 connector, are you using the MoTeC Cut to Fit loom for the C185, or is it self made? If the Ethernet cable pairs don't have the required twists, or there is too much of the wiring exposed, this can lead to connection issues.

Thanks for the help,

I ended up figuring it out once you got me looking closer at the connection wires. Turned out I misread the numbers on the autosport connecter and was off by one pin.

That will do it!

I've done similar on Autosport connectors.
