Ok I am setting up a C125 with the M150 and PDM32... I know that all the devices can share the can bus network for the utc connector.. Can the dash and the M150 share the eithernet connection as well? Thank you in advance for helping a sort of noob...

The M1 and Dash cannot share the same Ethernet connection. I have one of these in my car to allow for the laptop to be connected to both devices at the same time. The advantages with these switches is that as the run off of 5V, you can make a power lead that will connect to a USB 2 port and run them from that.*

* Check with you laptop manufacturers details to ensure that the port is capable of powering the device, my experience is that they draw around 150mA in operation with three ports in use, your usage may vary.

So in order for the c125 and the m150 to work properly I have to use two eithernet connections..

Correct.

That is What CAN is designed for, you can have multiple devices transmitting and receiving simultaneously as long as you do not have two devices transmitting the same address. The CAN Bus on my car has 22 devices transmitting on it.

I have a network switch already a d link almost like yours.. Can I use the 5v power out of the dash to power up the hub?? I know the d link requires 5v 1a power.. The only other thing on the 5v on the dash will be the GPS antenna I just got.. Thank You again for all the help..

No, the dash 5v supply is only good for 250 mA (0.25 amps), you need a power supply like Stephen suggested.

As Dave said, the Dash 5V supply is not designed for this sort of load on it.

Ok instead of posting another thread on this.. the current dash config is set up for M800 ecu.. I have recently reconfigured the car with the M150 instead of the M800.. I am having a time trying to figure out the can for the dash. It will let me delete the M800 can in the Communications section under connections. Then it gives me errors to reconfigure the channels.. I am not 100 % sure where to find that in the c125 software?? I did try to upgrade the firmware to the one I use on my desktop, and it would not take.. So I am still on the 610h9 firmware on the dash.. I need to clean this up and add the appropriate M150 can and gps channels.. Thank You in advance..

There are bugs when deleting templates with some channels allocated, and adding new templates (or trying to move a template to a new CAN bus).

The workaround is very simple. Delete the old stuff (M800). Click OK (not the close box, that is like "cancel") to close the Communications Setup window. Open the communications setup again, and add your new templates. No conflicts now..

Not so much as a bug as more the way that the files are handled, as there is a cancel button that reverts the changes back, we cannot clear the old data until it has been confirmed by clicking the Ok button, this then flushes the settings out and allows for new ones to be allocated.

The other alternative is to start fresh with a template designed for the M1, this is done by going to File | New and selecting the M1 template.
