C125 Freezing "No Data"

Postby baselkwt on Fri Nov 18, 2022 1:04 pm

Hello,

So I'm trying to diagnose an intermittent issue with a C125 colour display.

The display goes black with a "NO DATA" message on the dash.
It only works briefly some of the time, and is usually in the frozen state (black screen , no data message).

If its frozen, cycling the power will not fix the problem, the power must be switched off for at least 2-3 minutes.
When switching the power back on, it will operate normally for about 30 sec to 1 minute before freezing again.

It does sometimes start operating normally if left untouched, but will go back to the black screen after about a minute.
If the screen is black, the SLM does not operate normally. (If there is something configured to the SLM to illuminated an LED when "off" (value is zero), this light will illuminate on the SLM.
If the screen is black, the ethernet communication does not function, configuration cannot be sent or received, the software does not see the display at all.

The CAN bus has a M130 + LTC 4.9 on it, 1M bus speed
The CAN bus wiring run is about 1.5m-2m in length (motorcycle)
The only wiring to the dash is Power and ground, CAN1 and Ethernet.
CAN receive is M1_General x640 template
When the display is frozen, the LTC and M1 ECU continue to operate normally

Things that I've already done to diagnose the problem:

-Update to latest firmware.
-Created a new configuration file with only the CAN receive, display layout and shift light configured
-Added 120ohm resistor at the display end of the can bus (there is already another 120 or 100 ohm resistor at the opposite end of the can bus).
-Disconnect Ethernet wiring
-Disconnect CAN wiring
-Disconnect Ethernet + CAN wiring (Only power+ground wires remain connected)

None of these things change the behaviour of the display.

Any suggestions on how I could continue diagnosing this before I contact my motec dealer as a next step.

Thanks

Hello,

It sounds like you have done all the diagnostics we would typically recommend.

You will need to reach out to your dealer to proceed with an RMA.

Once the RMA is organised, the device can be returned to the MoTeC repairs team and they will inspect the device to determine the cause of the fault and offer potential solutions.
