Multiple CAN bus and reserved CAN address

Hi,

Question 1
Does any known if I can use the same address on 2 different CAN bus?
As example address 312 on CAN 1 sending me the vehicle speed and address 312 on CAN 3 sending an air speed.
Will that cause a CAN communication conflict in my dash (C187)?

Question 2
I have a vague memory of having a IMU CAN address conflict with some reserved CAN address on my dash (C187).
These reserved CAN address could not been seen in the communication setup menu. As I remember, there was a MoTeC tech note about some reserved address built in the dash by MoTeC for some specific application. Does any one known about that? Can someone share that tech note with me?

Thanks, Frank

I messed about a bit, it appears that the same address on different can buses causes conflict. But, I'm no expert.
Try a basic configuration in dash manager and see how it likes it.

Thanks Sean,

That's the tech note I was looking for.

I did thought to test same CAN address on multiple CAN bus, but my harness is not finish yet. I have to decide which CAN bus I send in which harness branch. My system is for engineering development of multiple vehicles, so sensor are swap pretty often and two might have the same CAN address.

I was hopping someone could confirm me that I could use the same address on two different CAN bus. Anyone knows?

Frank

You absolutely can use the same CAN addresses on different CAN buses -- the only exception would be if there was a CAN bridge that was transferring data between busses (say at different speeds). I've seen this on some OEM Vehicle CAN implementations.

Thanks again David,

Exactly the answer I was hoping for.
