C127 GPS unit

I am looking at options regards my C127. I have the race logging kit so I have the GPS however for my car the cabling is somewhat clumsy to get it outside the car to ensure the best signal.

Does anyone know if an alternative GPS unit compatible with the same RS232 communications which has an SMA antenna connection rather than the all in one unit that is sold with the dash? That would let me fit a shark fin antenna with a hole through the roof of the car for mounting and for the antenna coax to connect.

Edit, a CAN unit would get a look in as well. I am not married to RS232.

Racegrade GPS (made by the MoTeC US Importer) is very common here in the US. Has both serial and GPS output.

At the price I might just have to live with the limitations of the original one, by the time I got a Racegrade here it looks like it would cost about a third of what I paid for a full C127 race logging kit.
