Need to make extension for Motec Loom

Postby FoxSTI on Mon Jun 27, 2016 7:35 am

I bought the Race kit that came with the Motec race loom.
The challenge I have if that the Motec loom is very rigid close to the 34 Pin male connector that goes to the back of the C125 and I do not have much clearance to allow for this.

Instead I am thinking of making an extension loom that plugs to the back of the C125 and into the Motec loom I purchased.

I can source an additional 34 pin plug but I can't seem to find a female (what my existing loom can plug into).
I am open to pulling the pins out if I can get a proper male and female plug kit to do this.

I am looking for some recommendations please, or I am just going to have to cut and splice the length needed.

I don't believe there is a Male (the wiring side is female because it has female pins and the device side is male) wired version of that connector only a PCB header version. We sell a combined version (has both the 26pin and 34pin connectors that you see on our ECUs) that you could modify and use in your loom. You would have to cut the pins and solder wires on to them and then pot the back of the connector.

It is probably going to be easier and neater to simply cut and extend the wires.

Adrian, I am thinking the same. It may also be a good opportunity to add wires for sensor and 5V.
Keep my original post as constructive crit. You folks should consider extending the connector 10" or so away from the main "rigid" spline.
