Multiple SLMs with a C125 Dash

Postby benmtech on Thu May 14, 2026 6:21 pm

I would like to use 2 Shift Light Modules with a C125. These would be used to show heading deviation left or right from a pre determined heading. The heading value would be supplied from a third party product via CAN. As the SLMs are CAN operated, I assume that I have to change the CAN IDs for one of the units. Does anyone have any experience of this or could advise on the proceedure? Thanks.

Hi,

There is a check box to use the Alternative CAN Address for one of the SLM's. The issue with using two SLM's with the C125 is that you lose the lights on the Display itself, as you can only have two devices configured at a time.

Shift Light Module Setup
This screen allows configuration of MoTeC's SLM (Shift Light Module), SLM-C, or integrated Shift Light Modules (depending on device).

Module
This section is used to select which type of SLM is connected (SLM or SLM-C) and to which CAN bus it is connected. When the Shift Light Module is configured (i.e. when there are items in the Patterns list) the CAN communications will be automatically configured.

For devices with an integrated SLM, the device must be selected in the Device field to enable configuration.

Note: MoTeC's C1X7 Display Loggers feature an integrated SLM with 10 programmable LEDs in a horizontal array across the top of the case, plus 3 LEDs vertically down each side of the case. The setup screens in Dash Manager provide a row of 16 lights, with the outer 3 at each end representing the vertical lights, left and right respectively. This should be kept in mind when creating patterns. See Shift light Module Pattern Setup for a diagram.
