Not able to hit cycle lock

Hi everyone,

I need a big help. I am part of a formula sae team. We run a Yamaha Phazer 2007 engine(2 cylinder) with high compression pistons and E85. We are using M150 ecu with the GPRP package. The team has ran the engine well on our dyno set up. The engine hits cycle lock quick and starts up fine.

We have installed the engine on the car but upon trying to start the engine, it does not fire. I have used the ref sync capture to sort out the rising and falling edge of the Speed pin and sync pin, however I am not able to hit cycle lock.

Point to note is, we ran 24V just to the starter motor on our dyno set up. However, on the car it is being supplied with 12V.

I have attached the package and logged data related. It would be of great help if someone could point the direction I should be heading towards.

Hi,

From the data and image sent, there are two issues that I can see.

The first is that the Reference signal appears to have +5V offset from 0V, as this is a Mag sensor that works on a 0V crossing, this will not be correctly detected by the M1. The other issue us that there appears to be no Synchronisation signal being see by the M1.

Running the ECU on 24V+ will not cause these issues as they are designed to run on higher voltages, but the Magnetic sensor should not be getting pulled up in the way that it is. Can you confirm that the Magnetic sensor is only pinned to a Sensor 0V and UDig input, and that there is not 5V+ being feed to the sensor. I would also check that the wiring for the Synchronisation sensor is correct.

Is this the same loom that you used on the engine dyno?

Thank you for the reply sir. Your diagnosis helped us solve the problem.

It hits cycle lock now
