M1 ecu not found

Postby justineurope on Wed Feb 05, 2025 11:47 pm

Hi all, me again!
I have a running car that last week I could connect the laptop too the ecu via the ethernet cable. This week it wont connect!.
Nothing on the car has changed, car still runs. Ethernet cable connects laptop to internet when I tested it on said laptop, suggesting cable is OK
Any thoughts?

I just spent far too much time with this same issue. I always forget about it, and think its a bad cable, failed USB/Ethernet adapter (especially when working remotely with customers). I hope there will be a good fix from MoTeC someday.

The issue is that a Windows Update overwrites something that the MoTeC Discovery service uses. The solution is to re-run any of the installers (M1 Tune, Dash Manager) for any of the products that use Ethernet to communicate. You don't have to uninstall, just use the "repair" option in the installer, and your ethernet communications will start to work again.

I would hope that the smart engineers at MoTeC could figure this out, or at least provide a "Fix Ethernet" button in the MoTeC Discovery application

Thanks David, you are exactly right as I discovered at about 2 am this morning. New to it all so I assumed I'd messed it up, while away on holiday! Did a 'repair' to M1 tune and it worked again.
So simple
Thanks again

We have the Repair function in the Help menu in M1 Tune for this, it will re-establish the network links needed when it is run.

The problem is that we have fixed this issue a number of times, but Microsoft keeps making changes in the background that we cannot control and that get rolled out with the Windows Updates. We are working on changes to get away from this, but Microsoft keeps moving the goalposts, and we also have to have it work with all of our products, so it isn't a quick fix.

Thank you for the Help->Repair... menu. I didn't know about that, can that repair functionality be added to the Dash Managers as well?

It's in the list to be added.
