Doubt on Initial set up

I am from a formula student team and my team is running a Yamaha Genesis 80fi 499cc 2 cylinder engine. We have just moved to the m150 ecu and I have some doubts on setting it up. May I get advice on how the engine reference speed offset can be predicted/decided upon?

For the initial setup>engine details, does the Engine cyl 2 TDC refer to TDC of compression stroke? Would 180 deg be the correct angle for a 2 cyl engine?

The initial verification of the Engine Speed Reference Mode is made by using the Online Capture Inputs function. You can run this without spark plugs (will crank faster) if you aren't using manifold pressure as the sync signal. Otherwise, leave the plugs in. Disconnect the coils and fuel injectors so there is no attempt to start the engine.

I am not familiar with that engine. What is the layout: inline, V-Twin, or horizontally opposed? Is it a two stroke or 4 stroke? That will give us a clue as to what the correct Cylinder 2 Top Dead Center value might be.

Where can I find the Online Capture Inputs function tool? Im more concerned about the engine speed reference offset angle.

This engine is an inline 2 cylinder 4 stroke engine.

Use M1 Tune, when connected to the ECU, you will find Capture Inputs under the Online menu.

If both pistons are at the top of the stroke (one on compression and the other on exhaust stroke), then the angle for Cylinder 2 would be 360 degrees.

Ok I will check out the capture function. From the capture function will I be able to estimate the engine speed reference offset angle? Do you have a screen shot of how the capture would look like?

When 1 piston is at TDC with other will be at BDC. So I guess 180 deg should be correct?

I do not know your engine, so I will not be able to tell you the correct offset from an input capture. If you connected a pressure sensor (connected to cylinder 1) to one of the using inputs we could determine it. You will need to be able to connect a timing light and view a TDC mark on the crank or cam, that is how you actually set it accurately. You could do just that and find the value by changing the offset 30 deg at a time until you see the mark, then homing in on the correct value.

As for cylinder 2 offset, it will either be 180 or 540. How many degrees do you have to turn the crank to reach TDC Compression on cylinder 2?

Dear Sir,

Thank you for the help I got it sorted out. It is 180 deg.

I have started tuning and may I find out if fluctuating fuel pressure will cause inconsistencies or high values on the EE table?

Also when trying to do fuel injection timing, I did not see much change in the lambda values.
